The Growth Development Consultant (GDC) plays a vital role in supporting the identification, development, resourcing and reporting for critical new business (growth) opportunities but does not have primary responsibility for closing sales. Job Responsibilities. As a member of the Opportunity Management (OM) team, the GDC will have responsibility for using technology and internal processes to:

  • Assess our internal and external clients' needs for high-complexity sales support
  • Onboard and assign resources for growth and strategic renewal opportunities in Optum's cross-market sales pipeline
  • Develop multi-level relationships and maintain communication with stakeholders
  • Use technology and reporting to track and analyze support metrics
  • Serve as lead for marketing and branding the Opportunity Management program You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: The GDC:
    • Works closely with sales and marketing groups to translate business development strategies into specific initiatives, additional market research projects, and selling activities
    • Establishes and cultivates strategic business relationships with key sales and market influencers, potential new customers, and related community institutions
    • Ensures appropriate resources are assigned to address all contract requirements Develops and presents capture management reports and briefings
    • Identifies and assigns deal-specific actions and works closely with functional departments (e.g., Proposal Development, Contracts, Pricing, Finance, HR, etc.) to assure an integrated approach
    • Manages resource requirements and supports gaining executive and stakeholder buy-in for strategic pursuits opportunities of significant scope and scale in healthcare
    • Supports Growth Manager coaching to teams and providing as-needed training on client and opportunity plan development using Edge
    • Supports facilitation of opportunity reviews, often with senior executive audience
    • The ideal candidate aligns and interacts closely with functional area stakeholders from finance, marketing, product, readiness, implementation. Frequent touchpoints and close collaboration with other sales support teams (i.e., Proposals, CTO, SSC) is also expected Additional Responsibilities:
      • Supports Growth and Capture Managers with activities from bid decision to contract award
      • Motivates, and energizes internal and external team members to produce a winning solution
      • Leads and coordinates team activities
      • Delegates authority and responsibilities to ensure each project works toward the maximum potential

Required Qualifications:
        • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Information Technology or equivalent experience
        • 4+ years of experience in sales process enablement
        • 3+ years of CRM, technology and process automation and/or customer support with focus technical insights
        • 3+ years of proposal experience, program management skills, and leadership skills are key requirements
        • Experience analyzing and reporting resource requirements and gaining executive and stakeholder buy-in for strategic pursuits significant scope and scale in healthcare
        • Deep knowledge of the client buying lifecycle, proposal and capture processes
        • Solid understanding of sales marketing strategies into business strategies that are competitive and compelling for the customer
        • Exemplary technical and data management skills
        • Solid technology-enabled project management skills
        • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with senior levels of internal and external organizations
        • Ability to enhance the capture process and proactively suggest improvements to increase win probability on opportunities
        • Ability to identify and assemble resources for customer analysis, competitive analysis, capture strategy development, solution development, and translation of strategy and solution into winning proposals/collaboration agreements

The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600.
