Job Title: Skate Guard
Department: Solar4America Ice at San Jose
Reports To: Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, HourlyScope and Nature of Role
Great entry-level position that is responsible for the safe operation and normal maintenance of the ice arena; skating experience not required.Essential Responsibilities
- Monitors all public session skating events both on and off the ice.
- Assists in the general maintenance and upkeep of the ice arena area including: sweeping, cleaning, and other custodial duties.
- Provides excellent customer service at all times, and ensures that all policies are properly implemented.
- During public skating, issues equipment and staffs the equipment counters.
- Maintains rental skates, boots, blade and boot replacement/repair.
- Supervises skating to ensure safe operations and responds to the needs of user groups.
- Operates music and public address systems.
- Administers first-aid as required.
- Provides excellent customer service at all times, and ensures that all policies are properly implemented.
- Knows emergency procedures for equipment and facility evacuation plan.
- Ensures the overall cleanliness of Solar4America Ice at San Jose.
- Performs additional duties as required.Qualifications

• 
  
• Prior ice rink experience is preferred, but not required
  
• Must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job that are physically demanding.
  
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  
• Must be able to work in a cold environment.
