and Chicano Studies (CCS) at San Jose State University invites
highly qualified and motivated applicants for a pool of part-time
teaching appointments.
The CCS Department welcomes all forms of diversity including race,

Department SummaryCCS offers an undergraduate minor and major, as
well as a graduate degree. CCS faculty are trained in various
disciplines with distinct community and research interests that
contribute to a vibrant community of activist scholars.
CCS provides students with an interdisciplinary understanding of
the perspectives and experiences of Chicana/o and Latina/o
populations. A CCS degree or minor provides students with the
critical skills and analysis to contribute to a complex society.CCS
sponsors extensive activities that are open to the entire campus
community; this academic year the department faculty and staff
hosted
weekly Platicas hosted by faculty and alumni as a way to stay
connected throughout the pandemic. We are also celebrating our 50
th Anniversary with numerous events including film screenings,
alumni panels, and collaborations with other Ethnic Studies
Departments on campus.
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are
filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding.
Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short
notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in
mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in
mid-May.Responsibilities
Teach lower- and upper-division courses and serve weekly office
hours based on assigned teaching unit load.All Faculty should be
organizing their classes within the Canvas Learning Management
System (LMS), the official LMS provided for the SJSU community. All
classes at SJSU, whether online or not, must be anchored in the
Canvas platform to ensure faculty-student connection in a common
space as all students are directed to log in to Canvas for online
access to their classes. You will have access to this system prior
to the semester start date.Required Qualifications
Conditional Appointment Please be advised that an appointment is
contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to
order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining
agreement between California State University and California
Faculty Association. These provisions state the "Order of Work," or
the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty,
starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer
appointees.Salary - Salary to commensurate with
