The successful candidate will design, improve and document any robotics related mechanicalsystems including accessories for our existing robots and brand new robot platforms. You will bepart of our Hardware Engineering team and work closely with our Product team and Sales team todefine then design new products and improve existing ones. You will also work closely with ourproduction + contract manufacturing team on implementation mass-production level projects. Youwill participate in beta and production programs and continue to listen to customer feedback as apart of our iterative planning and improvement process. San Jose, California, United States
Responsibilities:

  • Selecting and interfacing with multiple metal and mechanical subassembly manufacturers
  • Leads internal design meetings to plan design or design review activities
  • Completes all phases of design projects on a variety of levels at different complexity
  • Reviews recommended improvements based on analysis and documentation conducted by less experienced engineers
  • Implements necessary recommendations
  • Designs complex test experiments. Oversees execution of test experiments and reviews results
  • Makes and implements recommendations to improve product and team performance
  • Maintains an understanding in multiple technical areas and a knowledge of latest technology and design techniques.
  • Understands customer needs and reflects those needs in design work
  • Develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines and other functions, such as sales, manufacturing, and marketing to support client needs
  • May develop new tools to aid in the analysis and solving of problems. Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of a variety of factors

    Qualifications:
    Minimum Requirments:
    • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics
    • 4 + years experience designing complex electro-mechanical systems
    • Strong exprience with Solidworks is required - user including FEA
    • Experience implementing DFM during architecture or prototyping stages
    • Production experience
    • Experience working with factory support and vendor partnershipsPreferred Qualifications:
      • Extensive experience designing sheet metal components
      • Technical Documentation creation such as system assembly diagrams
      • Solid understanding of GD&T in high volume production
      • Excellent skills in Microsoft business applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
      • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
      • Expert Solidworks user including FEA
      • Experience implementing DFM during architecture or prototyping stages
      • Experience selecting and interfacing with multiple metal and mechanical subassembly manufacturers
      • Extensive experience designing sheet metal components
      • Technical Documentation creation such as system assembly diagrams
      • Solid understanding of GD&T in high volume production
      • Excellent skills in Microsoft business applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
      • Experience in taking designs from concept through manufacturing
      • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
      • Experience throughout the development life cycle (writing specifications, selecting parts, prototyping, engaging with vendors, design validation, and scale production)
      • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
      • Experience in hardware prototype bring-up, debug, fault detection, and failure analysis

        Salary: USD 101600.00 - USD 152400.00 Yearly
        Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
