We welcome people from all walks of life into our team and strongly encourage people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, veterans, and people with disabilities to apply.Job Summary:Under moderate supervision, provide dynamic guidance and support of the Monterey Bay Aquarium's volunteers and Volunteer Program, in partnership with the Volunteer Engagement staff. This position has as its primary responsibility the oversight and coordination of the volunteer guides, the Aquarium's largest and most guest-facing volunteer program. Additionally, the position provides oversight of volunteer recognition events. Perform other duties as required.Core Activities:Coordinate logistics to acclimate new volunteer guides (e.g., assign appropriate training and mentor, order uniform, name badge, etc.), in collaboration with cross functional MBA teams.Maintain volunteer database, records and reports, including the volunteer substitute website.Provide guidance and information to shift members/captains, related to MBA administrative processes and tools (e.g., document hours, access to sign up genius, etc.).Generate a periodic Shift Needs Assessment, to inform the decisions about allocation of new volunteers and volunteer guide shifts.Serve as the primary point of contact for the volunteer email inbox, reviewing and responding to department needs as they arise, and delegating to team members as needed.Make recommendations for internal/external vendors (options provided by Marketing Events team) to support volunteer recognition programs (e.g., shift captains dinner, volunteer spring gala, annual milestone dinner, guide graduation, etc.).Create weekly Power point with Aquarium updates, presenting the updates to volunteers during three shift cycles per day.Provide other day-to-day support for variety of volunteer programs, including guest cards and birthday cards, and hour awards.Present information sessions and orientations to diverse populations including staff, volunteers and members of the public.Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experienceMinimum of three years supervisory experience, strongly desiredVolunteer supervisory experience preferredAbility to direct activities of volunteersAbility to handle confidential situations and informationExcellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills requiredExcellent organizational skills and strong attention to detailExcellent written and oral communication skills requiredStrong Microsoft Office, database software and web skillsAbility to set priorities and multi-task in an active office environmentSelf-motivated. Ability to work efficiently, independently, as well within a teamAbility to work within, and maintain Monterey Bay Aquarium's Core ValuesHourly Compensation Range Minimum:$21.01 USD per hour.
