Job Description:
Overview: Transdev, formerly Veolia Transportation, is the

Schedules and dispatches transit drivers. This is for a Part-Time
Dispatcher position.
Responsibilities: Job Responsibilities:
Schedules and dispatches drivers via both radio and window dispatch
work
Answers calls from clients and schedule services
Maintains records, logs, and schedules of the calls received to
schedule transit services, drivers dispatched, and customer
cancellations or no-shows
Enters data into spreadsheets and databases
Prepares reports on all activities occurring during their
shifts
Assists with the preparation of daily schedules and work flow
related to daily scheduling
Serves as an emergency contact for drivers in the field
Coordinates communications between drivers and other supervisory,
Risk Management, and Training/Safety personnel.
Coordinates with municipal, county and other agencies in emergency
situations or in traffic-routing problems, detours, enhanced
service requirements
Provides coordination of schedules and directs work of Dispatchers
in absence of Manager; works closely with Manager to administer the
Dispatch function
Documents and reports disciplinary issues to manager
Other duties as required. Qualifications: Education, Licensing, and
Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required
Experience Required:
Two or more years of public transit experience preferred
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Ability to organize logical and efficient schedules and routes and
adapt to changes
Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating
rules, regulations, policies, phases and routes
Ability to assist handicapped passengers when needed
General knowledge of the methods of operating two-way
communications equipment and proper radio procedures, and ability
to communicate via radio or communications system
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to remain calm and organized in emergency and complex
transit operation problems
Ability to use a multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks
concurrently
Ability to interact professionally with internal and external
customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse
groups
Travel requirement (as a percent):
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as
needed.
Majority of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or
well ventilated facilities
Majority of work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space
equipped with a telephone and computer.
The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting,
typing, or looking at a computer screen.
