Role Overview:
The Biomolecules Applications Scientist is responsible for, creation of applications and performance evaluations on Biotage products, data analysis, and preparation of reports, presentations, and other forms of communication. This communication may include education on techniques, products, and operations, troubleshooting, product/technique demonstration, guidance, and support of scientific efforts, and developing methods to support sales, customers, and corporate marketing in assigned markets and assigned products.

Additional responsibilities include, representing the company at scientific meetings and trade shows. This position also provides guidance and support for scientific collaborators and events which result in the use and publication of Biotage products in new markets and application areas. Sharing of data and frequent communication is expected.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develop methods in our labs to evaluate and recommend Biotage products suitable for customers' workflows and in line with marketing initiatives.
Manage collaborations as assigned by market segment managers with customers.
Define project, define support, and then report results in a way that marketing can use to generate more interest, awareness, demand and/or credibility.
Train customers, field reps and other co-workers on effective techniques, as well as on the use of Biotage system platforms or consumables, at Biotage or a customer facility, both in person and virtually.
Travel with local reps and independent travel to customer accounts, supporting end-user education, evaluations, and implementation of our solutions.
Communicate with customers, field reps, and co-workers through phone, Microsoft Teams, writing, and oral presentations, regarding applications work done by yourself as well as others.
Take incoming calls on applications questions from customers or sales representatives.
Write application notes, posters, blogs, and details of experiments in a clear and complete manner, according to Biotage templates.
Membership and participation in trade groups which are in alignment with assigned markets and product lines is encouraged to effectively network.
Attend and represent Biotage at key tradeshows, working the booth, presenting results, and answering technical questions.
Evaluate potential products and provide input for new product development.
Support regional marketing, corporate marketing, and I&D initiatives as assigned
Assist our service, inside sales representatives, and others as needed, so that they are prepared for field support at events and demos, including locating and packing accessories and systems.
Collaborate on project teams, while maintaining project tracking with current and planned milestones and collateral. Documentation of projects and cases in is required.
May perform other duties as required

Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment to meet both short term and long-term Commercial goals.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner.
Excellent oral and written communications skills in English, using PowerPoint, Word, and other programs.
Must be organized and have great attention to detail.
Must have a bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry or biology
2+ years' experience working at biological laboratory or equivalent experience in biopharma or biotech industry.
Working knowledge of basic biological concepts, methods, and workflow.
Demonstrated ability to develop new applications and new methods as well as troubleshoot and optimize different methods.

Travel Required: Travel will vary as needed. Approximately up to 50%. This role is considered lab based in San Jose.
