Position Summary

The Nurse Manager on the TCU managers the daily operations and staff functions on the TCU. The patients’ continuum of care from entry to discharge is followed to ensure all patient care needs are being meet. The position assists in developing objectives, policies, and procedures which support the mission, vision and values of the hospital. The position maintains the professional practice standards, customer relations, compliance with accreditation/licensure requirements, personnel and practice in the institution.  The position works collaboratively with medical staff, other departments, departmental staff, and serves in a leadership role.

Facility Based Description

Regional Medical Center of San Jose is a 264 bed acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center. The hospital provides a host of technologically-advanced services including Cardiovascular, Neuro, Orthopedic, Bariatric and General Surgery, Interventional Pulmonology and services for Women. Regional holds Joint Commission advanced certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Get with the Guidelines- Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. It is a certified Chest Pain Center, county-designated STEMI (heart attack) Receiving Center, designated Lung Cancer Screening Center, a member of Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ECMO) and is certified by The Joint Commission in Sepsis care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum:  Current CA RN License, BLS, ACLS,

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum:  At least 5 years experience in a telemetry acute care setting (or related unit)

Preferred:   3-5 years managerial or supervisory experience.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: Graduate of accredited Nursing program.

Preferred: BSN or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Problem solving and critical thinking ability.  Knowledge of Nursing Practice Act and Critical Care competencies.

Minimum:  Effective front line supervision, word processing/spreadsheet, time management, clinical proficiency, Title XXII, Quality Improvement

Preferred:   Completion of formal management training
