Core to maintaining that trust is ensuring that the platforms supporting those products are available when they need them.In this role you will be responsible for ....Your typical day will consist of partnering with Enterprise Resiliency and second line of defense peers to ensure that changes in business needs are reflected in disaster recovery capabilities and plans, working with technical teams to make their current readiness posture visible to stakeholders and peers, conducting unplanned large-scale chaos events to validate the resilience of the platform, and developing products that expose the real-time state of resilience of the platforms to the operational teams that require situational awareness for traffic and incident response actions.Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesAccountable as the Resilience process owner for the management and reduction of risks related to resilience and disaster recovery across the enterpriseAccountable and Responsible for PayPal Enterprise Disaster Recovery and Technical Resilience Testing ExercisesAccountable and Responsible for disaster recovery documentation structure and frameworks to align Disaster Recovery capabilities and plans with policy, Business Impact Assessments, and Business Continuity Plans across the enterpriseAccountable and Responsible for maintaining the standards and categories of disaster recovery capabilities aligned with technology platform architectures, including concepts of Active-Active, Active-Standby, and cold recoveryAccountable and Responsible for the monitoring, visibility, and reporting of the current disaster recovery posture and technical readiness across the enterprise, including identifying any material gaps in readiness due to capacityAccountable and Responsible for the standards and the execution of unplanned resiliency validation exercises at an availability zone scale, aka Chaos Engineering (gorilla), including tracking actions needed to improve resilienceResponsible for maintaining the repository of standard operating procedures related to activating disaster recovery as provided by accountable technical platform teamsRequirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience). Track record leading, developing, and delivering significant, complex software projects within complex organizations.Strong technical background, with: Proficiency in managing cloud based large-scale infrastructure. Experience building solutions on the Cloud (ideally GCP and AWS). Established experience with monitoring/logging tools and best practices. Experience in software release lifecycle with modern distributed version Experience working in an Agile environment, including Extreme Programming practices like Iterative Development, Continuous Integration (and Deployment) and Test-Driven Development. Great analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong influencer and strong communicator, both written and spoken.Behaviors: Approach problems with humility, rigor, and decisiveness.
