PURPOSE The Senior Probe Card Architect will be responsible for the definition and creation of new architectures to enable test products in the SOC industry around emerging market requirements (Si Integration, Advanced Packaging, etc) and continuous technical roadmap trends (pitch, CCC, lifetime, cost, etc). This will require identifying industry trends and customer use cases in these markets, as well as collaboration with customers on new products and platforms. Additionally, this role will also be responsible for definition of components and sub-systems, assignment of purchased and in-sourced components, system and component design and simulation, device & instrumentation programming, hands-on characterization in a lab environment, and customer system validation. Member of a cross-organizational technical team giving probecard architecture and product roadmap & strategy input to the Executive vent new probes & probecard architectures (including design, simulation, manufacture, characterization, etc)Create new products and mfg processes to support novel probes & architecturesCollaborate with manufacturing to build prototypes and early product pilotsPlan and execute system validation in customer environmentDefine components and sub-systems and integration into overall systemCreate world-class methods & analysis, role model tech structured problem solving and troubleshootingLead interdisciplinary development teamsHands-on characterization and direct design/analysis/characterization/validationProven track record of delivering products to market from initial market requirements to high volume manufacturingESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIESSupport the development of appropriate system/package architectures to meet new product requirements, including mechanical/electrical/thermal parametersPerform detailed mechanical/electrical/thermal analysis on advanced probe cards and assemblies (PCB's, substrates, probes, etc)Create and proliferate advanced mechanical/electrical/thermal analysis proceduresDesign and test components, products, and systemsModel and optimize structures using various mechanical/electrical/thermal modeling toolsPerform system simulations to confirm performance meets specificationEvaluate and select components to meet performance objectivesDevelop design "best practices" for the R&D team to produce specification compliant designsWork with test engineers to develop system test strategies and plansPerform lab testing of systems to validate models, uncover and debug problemsDevelop the necessary engineering documentation to support the designsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREDBS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or equivalent. PhD is an advantage.15years of delivering mechanical engineering concepts to market, including machine design, drafting, finite element analysis, and heat transfer.10years of experience with precision mechanical systems such as MEMS, microfluidics, or optical systems with sub-micron level tolerances and Multiphysics interactions.8years of experience in mechanical/electrical/thermal modeling/simulation of probes and probe cards5years of experience with hardware designWorking knowledge of SMT, PCB, Packaging, semiconductor manufacturing and assembly processes, thick/thin-film processing, failure analysis equipment and techniquesExperience with programming tools such as: C, Visual Basic, etcExperience interpreting industry-standard specificationsVery Strong advanced mathematical skills, including statistics and multi-variable analysis with tools such as JMP, Monte Carlo, etcAdvanced knowledge and extended experience of Design of ExperimentsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to influence others through leadership and technical expertiseFormFactor is committed to providing a work environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
