Software Engineer II
Location: 50 W San Fernando Street, Suite 1800, San Jose, CA

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal
commuting distance from The Trade Desk, Inc. office in San Jose,
CA. Job Duties:Understand the design, implementation and operation
of Apache Spark systems and develop Airflow jobs to orchestrate
data processing pipelines and drive improvements to the large scale
data-processing systems in Connected TV. Fix any errors or problems
in the software components, including improvements to the software
that allow it to run faster, process more data, or operate more
cheaply. Work with team leadership, product managers and other
engineers in Connected TV to make designs proposals for new
software or modifying existing software. Make estimates of how long
it will take to implement/execute a design and infrastructure costs
and determine whether it meets feasibility constraints, modifying
the design or scoping the plan as necessary. Work with project
managers and other area experts to understand technical limitations
and capabilities of data-processing systems and incorporate it into
their plans and day-to-day work in the implementation of those
plans. Work with other engineers to understand broader aspects of
system limitations and capabilities and tailor their Connected TV
feature design and implementation plans. Make plans to deploy the
software they build into production and execute those plans.
Develop unit tests, validation procedures and CI/CD pipelines to
ensure correctness of the software components implemented. Design
and build monitoring, metrics, dashboards and alerting to ensure
detection of errors and respond to them appropriately with changes
to correct the errors. Utilize and extend existing metrics, query
plans, and modify Spark jobs to analyze and monitor cost of
components, and review periodically with the team to ensure cost
constraints are met.Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or
foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computational Engineering
or related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered
or related role. Must have one (1) year of experience with:
applying computer science and software engineering fundamentals to
large scale data processing systems; distributed systems; python,
C# or Scala programming languages; working within the Amazon Web
Services environment; software development code editors and version
control systems; and unit tests, code deployment, and CI/CD
