Description
Overview:
Valley Water is searching for top-tier candidates to fill this
exciting opportunity.
The Senior Information Systems Technician is within the IT Unit.
This person will provide complex and advanced technical support in
managing, ensuring availability, implementing, and documenting the
district's server, network, storage, email, disaster recovery
software, and other core services. They will assist with
determining hardware and software system requirements and
specifications. They will be expected to multitask, have proven
analytical/problem-solving skills, and complete a variety of
complex technical tasks relative to their assigned area of
responsibility. Strong knowledge of LAN, WAN, and System
Administration including but not limited to VLAN's, VPN's,
firewalls, routers, switches, servers, VDI, virtualization, and
storage. In addition to having an extensive knowledge of various
technologies this position must be an effective team player with IT
and non-IT Staff. They are also expected to have excellent verbal
and written communication.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule; however,
due to the nature of this work, the teleworking schedule is
determined by the supervisor based on current projects, tasks, and
coverage requirements. A maximum of 40% remote and 60% onsite may
be available, after completion of the probationary period (one
year).
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Implement, configure and administer Windows servers, Active
Directory, DNS, RAIDs, Radius, print servers, windows updates
servers, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, and powershell based
management.
Implement, configure and administer Network Based Storage
Systems.
Implement, configure, and administer virtualized
infrastructure.
Implement, configure, and administer network firewalls, routers,
and switches.
Configure and administer Microsoft O365 Exchange online, Azure AD,
Microsoft O365, Sharepoint online, and One Drive.
Configure and administer cloud backup/disaster recovery
infrastructure.
Configure and administer backup technologies such as snapshots and
data recovery.
Work with vendors to support and administer applications and
systems.
Requires 24X7 support for network services, productions systems,
emails, and network infrastructure.
Perform scheduled service updates and patches to servers and
networking equipment.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and support LAN/WAN including wireless
infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient day-to-day
network operations.
Implement, configure, and manage switches, firewalls, routers, and
wireless devices.
Document and maintain detail network diagrams for all enterprise
LAN and WAN.
Implement and manage corporate remote access Solutions.
Provide support for mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad and
other android devices.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including robust
analytical skill with a focus on preventative actions.
Collaborate with business owners to determine requirements for new
systems and deliver solutions that best meet the business
needs.
Provide end-users helpdesk support as needed including but not
limited to computer hardware/software issues, email, application,
and printing issues.
Provide escalation helpdesk support.
Maintain hardware, software, and licensing inventory.
Comply with company IT policies, procedures, and change
controls.
Setup and management of a VDI solution.

Ideal Experience:
4 or more years of system administration and/or network
administration experience in supporting, configuring, and managing
enterprise grade infrastructure.
Ideal Skills and Abilities:Good verbal and written communication

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving Ability.
Ability to prioritize and take responsibility to resolve problems
efficiently and manage multiple projects in a high-pressure
environment.
Demonstrate drive to learn new technologies and keeping up to date
with current technologies.
Ideal Knowledge:Solid technical knowledge with Palo Alto Network
equipment, VMware, NetApp, Cisco, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft AD,
Microsoft Servers, and network security products.
Principles and practices of Network Administration.
Principles and practices of System Administration.
Principles and practices of Cyber Security.
English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation.
Recent and on-going Networking, Systems Administration, Cyber
Security related developments, including information technology,
current literature, and sources of information related to the
operations of assigned area of responsibility.
Solid technical knowledge of VDI systems in terms of setup and
management.
Ideal Training and Education:
Candidates with current certifications from Microsoft, Cisco,
VMware, VOIP systems, and the Cybersecurity field are
preferred.
Required License or Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid
