Humane Society Silicon Valley is seeking energetic and experienced relief shelter veterinarians to join our shelter medical team. Duties for this position are primarily high quality/high volume spay and neuter in a fixed clinic or mobile environment and may also include shifts in shelter medicine. HQHVSN Duties Must be able to perform up to 25-30+ spay/neuter surgeries per day, including pediatric spays/neuters, abdominal/inguinal cryptorchid castrations, and non-routine spays. Patients are a mix of shelter, foster, and privately-owned cats, dogs and rabbits, and community cats through our TNR program. Rabbit and rodent spay/neuter abilities are a plus. Excellent working environment with dedicated surgical support staff of at least four RVTs and veterinary assistants, plus many volunteers. Shelter Medicine Duties Practice high quality shelter medicine and surgery in our state of the art medical center with high-end diagnostic capabilities including digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray, ultrasound, microscopy, and in-house Abaxis blood chemistry and hematology machines. Manage a varied in-house caseload of patients, see foster animal appointments on an outpatient basis, and perform an array of non-spay/neuter surgeries including soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. There is a separate surgical suite and separate dedicated support staff of at least two RVTs and veterinary assistants. An interest in dental and oral surgery is a plus.
