Job Description:
Job Summary/Duties Performs needed psychiatric assessments, and
provides ongoing medication management services for referred
developmentally disabled patients with mental health disorders. Be
eligible for MediCal/Medicare certification. Authorized to
prescribe controlled substances. We are open to both options A
provider who can see patients 5 to all ages OR A provider who can
see patients aged 5 -17 Principle Responsibilities: The following
are the essential functions of the position. Contracted doctors are
responsible for carrying out these functions: Assumes psychiatric
assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations (MSE ) of
patients/clients and providing diagnosis according to the current
edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders (DSM) approved by the American Psychiatric Association
(APA). Use Hope s current electronic health record system and
follow Santa Clara County Psychiatric Medical Guidelines. Interface
closely with medical director, nurses, clinicians and case managers
for a client-centered approach to mental health care. Obtains and
reviews data, including laboratory and other diagnostic procedures
or consultations pertinent to the evaluation and treatment of
patients/clients Provides detailed written reports of
assessments/evaluations, MSEs, diagnoses and summaries of treatment
provided, and completes all medical records as required. Provides
specialized input in the development and implementation of
individualized mental health treatment planning for assigned
patients/clients, including diagnosis in collaboration with the
clinical staff. Provides psychiatric services in outpatient clinics
(via telehealth, and/or in the office) Provides consultation,
review, and peer guidance for other psychiatrists or therapists in
the evaluation and treatment of patients. Consults with the medical
director or clinic Director about policies and issues relating to
the evaluation and treatment of mental health patients/clients as
necessary. Participates in quality assurance, quality improvement
and performance improvement programs and activities when needed.
Provides expert advice and counseling for client families and care
givers regarding patient/client issues, problems and course of
treatment, presenting information about mental health diagnoses,
intellectual disabilities and how the two intersect. Prepares legal
and other court-related documents, written reports, and various
forms when deemed necessary and appropriate. Required knowledge,
Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform specialized
psychiatric/medical services in general psychiatry, evaluate and
prescribe medication, (including controlled substances) and other
treatments Provide qualified reimbursable services under guidelines
of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Regional Centers, and County Mental Health
and other funding sources. Ability to establish and maintain
effective working relationships with patients/clients, staff and
others. A belief that all people are valued members of the
community. An understanding of the principles of normalization and
commitment to community integration. Ability to work independently
and cooperatively as a member of the team. Excellent communication
and documentation skills, including use of computerized word
program and databases. Ability to be flexible with scheduling and
work in a consumer driven environment Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with a diverse population. Environmental Conditions
and Physical Requirements: A clinical office environment working
closely with others as part of an interdisciplinary team as well as
with persons served, sitting for periods of time in meetings and
use of office environment; produce work on computers/office
equipment. Clarifications: Can you please provide some information
on census or about the volume they will see per shift. - If they
are working 7.5 hours they may see up to 6 - 10 clients that day
depending on how many are routine follow ups, new Psychiatric
Evaluations etc. Type of patient population for C/A patients, and
specifically if it involved JV-222 cases? A small fraction of our
work involves JV220 forms What type of mental health disorders they
will be focused on (depression, anxiety, etc.). Most common are
Anxiety Disorder, Intermittent explosive disorder, Depression,
disruptive mood disorder, some OCD, some schizoaffective disorder,
and some bipolar are the most common. Does the provider need to be
Board Certified or Board Eligible or are you ok with a provider who
is not BC or BE? We highly prefer someone certified or eligible but
it is not a deal breaker. The provider will be providing telehealth
consults via zoom. Candidate Requirements Active CA State License
Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible (Certification must
be obtained within 5 years of residency). Must be Board Certi?ed or
eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and neurology in adult
and/or child psychiatry. Flu vaccination: Required or Need Medical
or religious exemption. EMR used is Avatar NX. Schedule Looking for
Adult and Child Psychiatrist, 12-16 hours/week. The facility can
only accept 16 hrs max at this time. There may be a need for more
hours around Spring 2026. The provider schedule can be negotiated,
our business hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5. Providers can
choose to do an 8 hour shift starting at 8:30, lunch, then
finishing at 5:00 PM. Or a provider can choose something like 9 AM
to 1 PM 3 days a week, or 9 am to 3:00 PM 2 days a week. They can
choose to have a lunch hour, half hour or no lunch. How ever many
hours the provider decides to sign on for, he/she can design the
schedule as long as it works for the clinic and is the same every
week.
