Early Intervention services in a naturalistic environment, as well
as Speech and Occupational Therapy for infants and toddlers from

does a CDS do on a day-to-day basis?A CDS provides one-to-one
direct therapy in the natural environment, either in-home or out in
the community. CDSs work closely with parent(s)/guardian(s) and
child to increase the acquisition of skills in the 5 domains of
childhood development using play therapy with 100% caregiver
participation. Directly Reports to Lead Child Development
SpecialistEssential Functions:
- Provide in-home/community-based intervention for children ages
0-3 years who have been identified as having or being at risk of
developmental delay or disability with early intervention
services.
- Maintain an assigned caseload of early intervention cases;
assists with intakes and assessments as assigned.
- Coach parents and care providers by modeling strategies, and
providing education on effective methods to support their child's
development - including addressing developmental and behavioral
concerns, interpreting test results, creating learning plans, and
suggesting age-appropriate activities.
- Ensure parent involvement and participation in sessions, while
informing the treatment team of any changes or challenges.
- Implement goals and programs as outlined by the treatment
team.
- Develop and monitor the client's goals to ensure consistency
with Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for Intensive
cases.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and timelines in all aspects
of service, including but not limited to the following:
- Implementation of goals and objectives on IFSP in a variety of
community settings, utilizing developmentally appropriate and
effective practices.
- Appropriate administration and scoring of assessment
tools.
- Submission of billing, data collection, and treatment
notes.
- Maintain accurate paperwork documentation and records of client
files.
- Demonstration of a family-centered philosophy, and respect for
cultural diversity.
- Coordinate visits with assigned families as directed; plan
curriculum accordingly.
- Communicate schedule changes with the scheduling department,
supervisor(s) assigned, and client(s) affected.
- Collaborate with our in-house interdisciplinary team to provide
effective intervention strategies, materials, and
communication.
- Maintain client confidentiality, in compliance with HIPAA
regulations
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and training provided
by Stars Therapy Services to maintain knowledge of best practices.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to accept constructive feedback, and apply it to
develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to manage
multiple tasks at one time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships and
boundaries with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community
members.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the
appropriate scheduling.
- Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to
HIPPA laws.
- Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to
clinical skills, professional development, ethics, technology, and
training in order to perform job responsibilities to required
standards.
- Knowledgeable of developmental milestones and global
delays.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in computer/word processing software.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience with teaching, childcare, or related
field
- AA or B.A/B.S in Child Development, Education, Psychology,
and/or related field preferred but not required
- Passionate about working with children
- Ability to build rapport with children and their parents
- Positive affect and patient demeanor
- Bilingual (HIGHLY PREFERRED, not required)
- Ability to travel within a 40 miles radius, reliable vehicle,
active driver's license, and auto insurance
- CPR/First Aid Certified, or willing to complete within 30
days
- Proof of TB and COVID vaccinations (religious or medical
accommodations accepted)
- Ability to pass a DOJ background check
- Detail-oriented, great communication skills, knowledge of
software, ability to multitask, effective time
managementLocation:Santa Clara, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and
Monterey counties (caseload assigned depending on your location)
Schedule8 hours/day, Monday-Friday 8a-7p (Saturday 7 am-5 pm
