The Software Engineering Manager is a leadership role that takes responsibility for the overall execution and success of complex software deliverables using agile methodology by leading a team of developers and testers, comprised of both internal and external resources. Excellent communication and organization skills are necessary to work cross-functionally with other teams. If career growth is important to you, we not only know how to help you with that, it's what we love to do: - WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING -(% of Time) Provide oversight and leadership to a team of software developers to ensure timely execution of team and project deliverables. Develop and maintain an organization of quality people through effective hiring, coaching, and performance management processes. Champion and ensure adherence to development strategies, standards, policies, tools, and procedures during all phases of the development life cycle. Develop staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments, and establishing development plans. Create an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance, and maintaining open communications. (50%) Lead development efforts across Agile teams, managing multiple products with shared resources. Ensure the quality, timeliness and cost of projects meet client and business requirements. Collaborate with Project, Product and Quality Managers to navigate scope, commitments, release timeline or other project variables when needed. Resolve problems in relationships between business partners and agile team. Considered point of escalation for the teams and production issues. Reports feature roadmap progress and risks to leadership team. Provides release management support for internal and external deployments. (50%) DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or technology, information systems or software engineering course of study or relevant experience required
  • 10+ years of working directly with the software engineering teams building complex software applications with a track record of on time deliveries required
  • 8+ years of people management experience, managing and motivating software engineers accomplish their measurable goals required
  • 5+ years of partnering with product management teams to successful execution of roadmap commitments across a globally dispersed team required
  • A deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, development manager experience with Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with the tools and technologies in areas such as issue tracking, builds, delivery, documentation, and release management
  • Identify opportunities to enhance work process across globally distributed teams
  • Action Oriented: Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm
  • Collaborates: Builds partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Customer Focus: Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions

  • Manages Complexity: Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems TRAVEL REQUIRED This job requires approximately 10% domestic travel. WORK STATUS & LOCATION This full-time, exempt position is located in Boulder, CO and is open to fully remote within the US. Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location. RELOCATION Relocation is not available for this position. PAY $114000 - $166600 / year REWARDS AT SIMPSON STRONG-TIE We recognize and reward employees with a carefully designed and comprehensive rewards package, including competitive compensation, quarterly bonuses or commission and first-rate benefits.
