What to Expect About Tesla and Tesla Energy's MissionIn 2016 Elon released: The Master Plan, Part Deux. In this plan hehighlighted the need to Integrate Energy Generation and Storage by creatingstunning solar roofs with seamlessly integrated battery storage. Tesla Energy'sInstallation team is in the operations arm of the business. The team installshigh-quality energy products (Solar Roof, Retrofit Solar, Powerwall) across theUnited States. To achieve this, we use a combination of direct labor andsub-contractors and partner with certified installers and new homebuilders. About Tesla Energy QualityThe Quality Department's core purposes are to ensure that theservices we provide and the products we install meet the design intent so thatpeople will love them and to reduce organizational spend by identifying andreducing inefficiencies caused by operations errors and product defects. Wereact to issues by containing, identifying root cause, and determiningcorrective actions to prevent recurrence while proactively identifying andmitigating risks to improve capability and capacity of operations through newmethods, tools, or material. Tesla Energy's Installation Quality department supports theinstallation of residential energy products through the continual improvementof process and product quality and the systems that surround them. A successfulcandidate for this team must be a problem-solver at their core, have a strongquality and customer-focused mindset, and have the personal drive and staminafor relentless, continual improvement, both personally and professionally.About Installation Quality OperationsThe -Installation Quality Operations team partners closelywith the Regional Installation teams. Tesla Energy currently installs -outof 53 -warehouses across 12 regions in the USA. -The Quality Ops team'sorganization structure closely reflects this regional -structure withInstallation Quality Specialists -located -in most warehouses andreporting up to Regional Quality Managers. The -Installation QualityOperations core purpose is to audit the installations of residential energyproducts and drive high quality installs at a regional level. The team is alsoresponsible for rapidly -communicating -emerging and trending qualityissues. - What You'll Do

  • Manage Quality Operations team(5-12 regional quality managers and 40-80 installations qualityspecialist) -
  • Collaborate with regionalmanagers across the installation organization on process failures, supportwith corrective actions and accountability -
  • Manage further develop the teamstructure; leveling guidelines; training programs and hiring plans forinstallation quality specialists
  • Drive performance andaccountability in utilization and quality metrics -
  • Ensurethe team is performing in the following metrics: -
    • HeadcountPlanning - create/maintain a headcount plan for the organization workwith Associate Managers to staff the organization to meet audit targetsand provide support to the Installation Managers.
    • Utilization- increase time spent auditing and decrease time spent driving (or otheractivities) maintain and drive audit completion numbers to ensure we havebroad data collection across all audit types.
    • AuditQuality - ensure the team is performing high quality audits, our qualityaudits can be viewed as random sampling of jobs and are considered a partof our control plan. Audits performed onsite should prevent roof leaksand other early life failures.
    • Training- maintain a high level of training across the organization, the installquality team is the first level of escalation from the installorganization. Install Quality Specialists and their Regional AssociatesManagers should understand how to perform installs and be able toidentify and explain defects to the install organization.
    • RegionalFeedback - ensure national goals and priorities are cascaded to theregion and that tactical audit plans reflect those. Ensure AssociateManager are providing clear and concise feedback on quality issues toinstall team and act as a conduit between the Associate Managers and theQuality Engineers.

          • A Bachelor of Science degree inengineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering,etc); other technical discipline or equivalent workexperience.
