The company partners with several of the largest U.S. financial institutions, the majority of the top 100 U.S. accounting firms, and popular accounting software providers.--Bill.com --has offices in San Jose, California and Houston, Texas. Bill.com is seeking a high-energy, passionate, and innovative business development professional to join our team. The Sr. Director, Business Development position at Bill.com is responsible for crafting the business development strategy, identifying opportunities, and executing new partnerships for the company. You will become the primary face of Bill.com to potential partners, help lead a cross-functional team to build on Bill.com 's strong foundation, deliver measurable value to the company and its new partners, and help Bill.com and its partners better serve the target customers. Reporting to the SVP, Strategic Partnerships & Business Development, this individual will play a key role in generating new revenue, and executing game changing partnerships. Core performance metrics will include revenue, active customers, and relevant partners. Professional Experience/Background to be successful in this role:

  • Partnerships: Strong background in developing strategy, identifying partners, negotiating agreements, and rapidly scaling partnerships.
  • Leadership: Proven track record in building and developing high performing business development teams, exceeding plan, and ability to gain the trust of external partners over an extended period of time. Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence teams to achieve significant outcomes.
  • Customer Champion: Know the needs, customer journeys through our partners, language and overall mindset of the SMB and Mid-Market customer segments, and turn those insights into business development strategies that result in significant revenue growth.
  • Product Aptitude: Deep understanding of new products/technologies in SaaS, business software, and B2B payments. Strong fluency in understanding APIs with the ability to create significant scalable opportunities based on this knowledge.
  • Go-to-Market: Work closely across the team to develop and iterate the partnership and marketing playbooks and tools to drive new business with and through our partners. Work cross-functionally to execute the plan as the company introduces enhancements to existing solutions.-- Required Experience:
    • 10-15 years' experience in business development, with expertise in SaaS and/or B2B payments
    • Track record of identifying, prioritizing, executing, and exceeding partnership performance metrics--
    • Experience implementing and executing against a variety of partnership models
    • Demonstrated ability of building trusted relationships with partners and understanding their motivations and specific business drivers
    • The candidate will have the ability and willingness to stretch from strategic thinking and influencing to the details of business development execution in order to drive exceptional results
    • Strong communications capabilities with the ability to tailor messaging for multiple audiences, including technical, executive, external, and internal stakeholders
    • Success building dynamic, engaged, high performing teams that consistently exceed goals
    • MBA or other relevant graduate degree Expected Outcomes in 12 months:
      • Demonstrate a deep grasp of Bill.com 's strategy, capabilities, and go-to-market approaches within 45 days
      • Develop business development strategy and align on priorities within 90 days
      • Identify, sign, and launch at least one new significant partnership within 6 months
      • Execute approved business development plan and meet fiscal year targets within 12 months
