Field Applications Engineer Network Access Business Unit FSLA Status:TBD Salary Grade: TBD Dept: Access BU Date: February 2019 Reports to: Global Account Manager Job Family: Sales and Marketing SUMMARY Establish influential relationships with key design engineers, program managers, and decision makers at major OEMs. Intersect early development stage of projects and ensure that Pulse is effectively positioned to win open opportunities. A successful candidate should be able to work with engineering, marketing, sales, and customer service to support customer requirements. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Bachelors Science Electrical Engineering , or Masters Science Electrical Engineering EXPERIENCE: 1-5 years overall work experience required, 1-2 years electronic design experience or 1-2 years OEM electronic sales/applications experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE: Technical knowledge of passive and active circuit design is required. Working knowledge in telecom equipment preferred. A successful candidate will understand practical applications of signal conditioning magnetics and their place in modern networking systems. Must be conversant in electronic circuit design SKILLS: Working knowledge of MS Office Products including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS INTERNAL: Daily interaction with Account Managers and Engineering, targeting coordination of design-win opportunities and product development. Weekly interaction with Product Line Manager and/or Design Engineering Manager to prioritize and schedule product development needs. EXTERNAL: Daily and regular interaction with customers, silicon manufacturers, designers, ODM contacts, customer leadership, and key decision makers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. CHALLENGES Serve as direct, first line of technical contact in product development. Must support territory success while competing for internal resources to respond to mutually identified opportunities. Time and resource management both personal and that of the division and Company. Understanding of the financial contributions and risks associated with recommended direction of product development. Involves a great deal of personal creativity, accountability, and ownership. The products chosen for development must be selected and qualified based on close knowledge and understanding of the customer requirements with an appreciation for industry-wide deployment. Position may require travel, up to 25%. SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES
- Customer visits to third-party (silicon) manufacturers as well as OEM/ODM customers.
- Analyze industry and market technical requirements to define future product development needs.
- Work with Product Management and Marketing to define data sheets and pricing strategies.
- Aid in development of business plans, strategies, and justification of department and company resources.
- Oversee, prioritize and manage internal issues to ensure customer satisfaction in production development.
- Other duties as assigned.
