If you already have a Candidate Account, please Sign-In before you apply.Job Description:As part of a technology development and staging team supporting the development of next-generation front-end modules for mobile wireless communications, the RF/Microwave Circuit Design and Validation Engineer will:Collaborate with the global IC design and marketing teams to identify and develop plans to address key technology challenges arising from current product development and/or future product road mapping efforts.Design test vehicles in a variety of active device technologies to benchmark the performance of these technologies as well as the accuracy and maturity of the device models and PDK. Test vehicles may include:

  • RF/Microwave/mmW power amplifiers
  • RF/Microwave/mmW switches
  • RF/Microwave/mmW low-noise amplifiersSpecify and contribute to the development of test routines required to assess test vehicle performance and matching of measured data to modeled data. Design test infrastructure, such as multi-layer printed circuit boards, necessary to facilitate performance and/or reliability testing of test vehicles.Produce reports summarizing the conclusions at each phase (e.g. design, simulation, layout, test). Identify sources of error contributing to discrepancies between measured and modeled data. Present findings internally and as feedback to external foundries.Requirements:
    • MS in Electrical Engineeringand 10+ years related experience or PhD in Electrical Engineeringand 7+ years related experience.
    • Advanced coursework and demonstrated expertise in the areas of: analog circuit design with emphasis in RF/microwave/mmW and electrical characterization of microwave systems
    • Working knowledge of semiconductor device physics and active device models. Demonstrated expertise in device/circuit performance interactions
    • Familiarity with mobile communications standards and front end module architecture
    • Working knowledge of DC and RF electrical characterization techniques and equipment, including CV meters, small-signal vector network analyzers, large-signal non-linear vector network analyzers and load pull systems, noise parameter analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.
    • Experienced with RF circuit design and EM simulation software tools (Keysight ADS, Cadence IC Tools, Cadence SiP, Ansys HFSS, etc.)
    • Strong problem-solving capability
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skillsDesired:
      • Programming experience in the applied areas of data analysis (C/C++/C#, Python, Perl, JMP/JSL, etc.) and test automation (C++/C#, IC-CAP, Agilent VEE, LabView, etc.)Additional Job Description:Compensation and BenefitsThe annual base salary range for this position is $126,000 - $210,000.This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.Broadcom offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package: Medical, dental and vision plans, 401(K) participation including company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company paid holidays, paid sick leave and vacation time.
