What You'll Do The Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED) Our core development focus is the host interface firmware layer that sits in the intersection of system software and flash management firmware. This key host interface firmware technology drives Samsung's breakthrough V-NAND technology and enables our customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications ranging from hyper-scale data centers, to big data processing, to software defined virtualized storage arrays and infrastructuresWe are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated engineer to develop and support our cutting edge Enterprise SSD products.The ideal candidate should be well versed in performance analysis, including a deep understanding of the bottlenecks in the hardware/software/kernel stack. This position will require a root causing and overcoming performance limits and working with other engineering teams to showcase our products to demonstrate the highest impact on performance. -Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time the remainder of your time.Job ID: 41468

  • Participate in ground-breaking advanced SSD storage development and research projects
  • Design and development of high performance firmware and software for cutting-edge enterprise SSD products.
  • Debug, optimize, and validate SSD firmware on complex embedded multi-core architectures.
  • Support customer qualification and adoption of SSD products. What You Bring
    • BS in Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science, and 20+ years of relevant experience in software or firmware or a MS with 18+ years experience preferred.
    • Strong programming experience and demonstrated proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, including development of algorithms, manipulation of complex data structures, and implementing highly optimized code, is required.
    • Relevant hands on experience in embedded software or firmware development, including storage devices or other embedded platforms is required.
    • Experience with one or more of the following storage related technologies: NAND Flash/FTL, Fibre Channel, NVM Express, SAS, SATA, SCSI, SSD, PCI Express, eMMC, or UFS is beneficial.
    • Experience with ARM or equivalent embedded multi-core microprocessor architectures is required.
    • Hands on experience with JTAG/ICE debuggers and protocol analyzers is required.
    • Familiarity and experience with modern agile software development methodologies and practices is preferred.#LI-SF1 What We Offer The pay range below is for all roles at this level across all US locations and functions.
