TITLE: Education CoordinatorREPORTS TO: Education ManagerCLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Full Time -COMPENSATION: $30.00/Hr. Plus benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid holidays, sick time, 401K plan -Job Summary: -The Education Coordinator must understand issues of highly impacted communities of color, where access and resources are missing and the opportunity gap is highest. The Education Coordinator works collaboratively with the Education Manager and other assigned staff to establish and meet the goals of all Amigos education programs, including the After School, Summer School, and Scholarship programs. The Scholarship Program supports primarily first-generation Latino students attending college as the first in their families. The Summer School Program provides academic and enrichment curricula for elementary school students from pre-kindergarten through middle school aged students. The After School Program serves the same grade levels as the Summer School Program and includes support at both school sites and Amigos unhoused families' locations, including Casitas de Esperanza and Amigos hotel programs. -The education manger also supports the development of proposed new programs that support students and families. - The Education Coordinator may, in cooperation with the Education Manager and other assigned staff, plan, initiate, and implement all education programs to support student academic achievement/success. - All programs serve to help to address the Latino opportunity gaps and systemic racism in education. - The Education Coordinator is, or will become familiar with California Common Core State Standards for students, including those associated with social-emotional learning. - The Education Coordinator is, or will become, familiar with the 2-Gen approach to service for families, and Amigos' implementation of Radical Hospitality to support students and families. - -Organization Background: -Based in Mayfair, the poverty experienced by the families served by Amigos is daunting. -Most Mayfair residents work in low-wage jobs and are unable to access government aid due to their immigration status. - The majority of households have inadequate food and poor overall nutrition. - Additionally, due to the extreme lack of affordable housing, it is not uncommon for entire families to live in a single bedroom or garage. - Amigos de Guadalupe's Casitas de Esperanza (Tiny Homes of Hope) is a new tiny home interim community that allows for children and families to call home while they are in transition and receiving services from Amigos de Guadalupe that moves families towards permanent housing and self-sufficiency. -Primary Duties:

Supports the initiation, implementation, and evaluation of all education programs and operations, including but not limited to after school and summer programs, field trips, all enrichment activities, coordination with volunteers and mentors, all sports programs and/or activities, and all student nutrition programsSupports the implementation of the Amigos Scholarship ProgramSupports the hiring, supervision, management, and evaluation of all education staff members, including but not limited to full and part time staff of after school and summer programs, tutors, and adult mentors and other community volunteers, as appropriateSupports ensuring a safe learning environment for all students and staffMaintains equipment and inventory related to educational programsSupports the preparation and implementation of pre and post program assessmentsAdheres to the 2-Gen approach to learning in support of students and familiesPractices radical hospitality with all community members - -Job Responsibilities:--- Lesson planning for all academic programs
Reliability in working assigned hoursTeach, direct, and supervise studentsMaintain daily attendance reports and support data gathering for aggregate reportsMaintain data entry requirementsMaintain inventory of materials and equipmentResponsible for the health, safety, and well-being of students at all timesAct as an active participant and a positive role model to students, exhibiting professional behavior at all times with all constituentsDemonstrate awareness of systemic failures of current systems and support filling those gaps with knowledge of the community's needs and equity gapsEnsure that any academic and/or behavioral concerns are reported to the Education Manager immediately and remediated appropriatelyPractice conflict resolution techniques and positive behavior intervention and support -Attend and participate in staff meetings and professional development trainingsOther duties as assigned -Qualifications:The Education Coordinator will have the following competencies and knowledge base and/or possess the following skills:
-Common Core StandardsBalanced literacyLesson planning and implementationClassroom management, including Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS), Conflict Resolution techniques, and Social-Emotional learning strategiesExcellent classroom management within a child-centered programCollege degree in education or related field, or degree in progress, valid teaching credential preferred, or equivalent experience in directing programsExperience working with children in a variety of school settings. -Successful experience in working within local educational, governmental, and/or nonprofit agenciesMust have knowledge of, and ability to work in, racially diverse communities, under-performing schools, and low high economic poverty areasMust be fingerprinted and have a background checkPrefer CPR and/or First Aid trainingSpanish bilingual PreferredValid California Driver's LicenseAmigos is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
