Department SummaryThe History Department at San Jose State
University (https:// www.sjsu.edu/history/index.html) is a vibrant
center of learning for nearly 300 undergraduate and graduate
History majors, plus hundreds more undergraduate students enrolled
in History survey courses that fulfill General Education and
American Institutions graduation requirements. The department has
nine full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty and fourteen
part-time or full-time lecturers. We offer courses that cover most
of the world and all periods of time. We are always looking for
qualified History instructors who can teach lower-division survey
courses (MA required, PhD preferred) and occasional upper-division
courses (PhD required) as well.Brief Description of DutiesWe are
seeking qualified lecturers to teach Social Science Teacher
Preparation courses on a part-time, temporary basis depending on
department needs in Fall 2022 and beyond (MA in history required,
PhD in history preferred).Our Social Science Teacher Preparation
courses are 3-unit, upper-division undergraduate courses that are
intended for future elementary, middle, and secondary school
teachers. The courses are designed to prepare students with the
content knowledge and grade-level specific pedagogical strategies
they will need to teach in California public school
classrooms.

Salary Range - Commensurate with experience within ranks
established by the CSU Salary Schedule .

located in the State of California. Employment is contingent upon

CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be

position.Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment
considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the
collective bargaining agreement between California State University

"Order of Work," or the order in which available courses must be
assigned to faculty, starting with tenure line faculty and ending
