Job Description:
The Corporate Global Tax Director will be an integral member of
SoundHound's accounting/finance team, will initially report to the
VP Controller, and will establish/lead all corporate tax
activities. The Corporate Global Tax Director will possess broad
experience applicable to public company tax compliance and will
manage and coordinate with external tax expertise while
transitioning functions to internal management as the company
grows.

AI globally. The Corporate Global Tax Director is crucial to our
success in this mission, by ensuring SoundHound builds and
maintains the needed tax compliance to scale and expand our global
reach.
In this role you will lead:
- Oversight of corporate global tax compliance and filings.
Overall responsibility for US Federal/State/Local tax returns, and
foreign tax compliance in partnership with regional management and
service providers.
- Current international exposure includes Canada, Germany,
France, South Korea, Japan, and China. Develop a foundation for
additional international expansion.
- Manage outsourced tax service providers to deliver compliance
while optimizing balance between internal growth and external
consultants.
- Management of the preparation of quarterly and year-end tax
closing and reporting processes for US GAAP and IFRS filings, tax
provisions disclosures, footnotes, and journal entries.
- Analysis, management, compliance of State Sales & Use Tax.
Evaluate and manage various state nexus exposure, opportunities and
risks.
- Establishment and maintenance of global tax policies and
tax-related Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR).
Manage quarterly SOX 404 internal control procedures for tax
accounting and tax compliance. Document and test processes.
- Management of tax credits and incentive opportunities (R&D,
etc.)
- Management of global transfer pricing policies and studies
- When needed, support payroll and unemployment tax
requirements.
- Research and implement new accounting pronouncements relevant
to tax accounting. Manage communication and needed activities with
accounting team, tax consultants, and external auditors on emerging
tax accounting issues.
- Assess the implications of present and proposed FASB, SEC and
IASB pronouncements related to accounting for income taxes. Provide
technical guidance on all respective tax accounting issues. Present
tax planning strategies and tax results to the executive team and
audit committee.
- Development and execution of global tax planning, including
cross-border transaction tax planning, to minimize tax risk, the
Company's effective tax rate, and cash taxes to support strategic
objectives.
- Support the acquisition/integration of target entities from a
tax perspective, including recommending the appropriate tax
structure
- Perform other ad hoc activities when needed
- Essential that candidate is ready to roll up sleeves and apply
hands-on problem solving to consolidate workflows and establish
needed processes for newly listed public company.

- The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of tax experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- MST/Accounting Degree
- Deep experience with researching and documenting tax accounting
issues; strong ability to independently apply applicable
principles
- Obsessively detail-oriented and leaves nothing to chance
- Strong analytical, organizational, oral, and written
communication skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills with
ability to independently and simultaneously manage overlapping
projects
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Driven desire to identify and help improve accounting
processes, controls and products
- Comfort working with teams prior to establishment of mature
processes
- NetSuite experience (preferred)
